UPDATE: The Ocean Way Festival has been canceled due to severe beach erosion caused by storm surf and runoff from Hurricane Marie. We were so excited to spend a weekend together on The Beach, but can share that plans are already underway to bring the festival to Santa Monica in 2027! Refunds to ticket purchasers are being processed automatically, and no further action is required on your part.
You probably are well familiar with the story of Ocean Way Audio. We’ve told that story many times. But far beyond the tale of studios and loudspeakers is the music that was created as a result of the innovations of Allen Sides. And to this day, it’s the music that remains of the most paramount importance.
That’s the thought behind the inaugural Ocean Way Festival, being held on September 26-27, 2026 in Santa Monica, CA. Being held at the corner of Ocean Way and Bay Street, just steps from the sand in Santa Monica, the festival is inspired by Allen’s legacy of creativity, craftsmanship, and musical discovery. Rooted in Santa Monica’s rich music history, the festival carries that spirit forward, bringing artists, neighbors, families, and fans together by the ocean where new memories are made.
It was over 50 years ago when, in the 1970s, a young musician, recording enthusiast, and audio designer named Allen Sides began building and testing custom speaker systems from a small garage on Ocean Way, just steps from the beach. That same garage, located just outside today’s Ocean Way Festival entrance, soon became a gathering place for artists searching for a new kind of sound. Decades later, Ocean Way Festival returns to where the story began, bringing artists, neighbors, families, and fans together on the same coastline that inspired a legacy.
